​Reports to the President and Council, and is responsible for the Institute‘s consistent achievement of its mission, vision, values and financial objectives.  The Executive Director holds a key leadership position in the Institute. Under the authority of the Council and the governing Board, the Executive Director assumes complete responsibility for carrying out assigned policies, regulation and bottom-line profitability of the organisation. The Executive Director has the authority to direct the implementation of the institute’s program and services and is responsible for the management of all staff members and volunteers.
  • Provides strategic direction and oversight of roles, functions and key activities of the Institute to ensure its mission, vison and long-term goals are met.
  • Provides leadership in developing programmes, organisational and financial plans and execute plans, policies, programmes, services and projects approved by the Council and governing Board.
  • Keeps the financial position of the Institute under regular review to ensure that there is an appropriate balance of long-term and short-term finance, and provision of adequate cash flow for day-to-day working and in compliance with statutory requirements and reporting.
  • Manages the activities of SHRI in all sections under general review with particular reference to the conformity of the current and cumulative "actual" position with budgets.
  • Responsible for the sound financial performance of the organisation and overall control of the operations and financial goals.
  • Liaise with, engage and manage key stakeholders of the Institute to achieve its goals by establishing good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with tripartite partners, business associations and other organisations.
  • Lead in driving the membership of the institute by understanding the current and future SHRI members’ requirements and developing relevant membership models and programmes to increase membership.
  • Drive the business of the Academy by determining the learning and development needs of businesses and HR professionals and implement HR programmes and courses to meet these needs.
  • Represent SHRI in government and professional associations by playing an active role in HR activities in Singapore and the region to enhance the professional body’s branding and profile.
  • Tap on government funding to develop the capability and infrastructure of the Institute and HR professionals in Small & Medium Enterprises.
  • Ensure that the Institute adopts good corporate governance and complies with the statutory and legal requirement of the respective authorities.
  • Lead and manage the day-to-day management, supervision and operations of the Institute’s Secretariat, to meet the expectations of Council, stakeholders and members.
Job Specifications:
  • Professional Certification and Post-Graduate Qualification in Business and/or Human Resources.
  • Minimum 10-15 years of relevant HR leadership experience and managing an organisation.
  • Broad and comprehensive understanding of HR policies, systems and practices, as well as the changing business and workforce landscape.
  • Strategic insight, excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage and influence relevant public, private and union stakeholders and partners.
  • Good political and business acumen in order to drive strategies, operations and business of the Institute.
  • Transparent and high-integrity leadership.
  • Strong organisational and people skills, including planning, delegating, programme development and tasks facilitation.
  • The ability to understand latest trends and technology that affect Human Resource Management.
  • Fair understanding of financial knowledge is essential to help drive the business
